Meeting Point

When we’re leading change, we see the vision.

We’ve had time to sit with it, to study it, to make sense of it. We know where we are now, where we’re going, and we’ve considered a rough map to get there through experimentation and perseverance.

When others aren’t as excited and eager as we are to move forward, we may be quick to dismiss them as heel-draggers, opponents, challengers, or rebels. But that may not be the case.

We forget that oftentimes, those we’re leading simply aren’t as familiar with the vision and the journey ahead. They’re starting from a different place and may simply need some time to learn, internalize, and understand so they can trust and share in the vision and see themselves in it.

And as leaders, we need to meet them where they are. From there, we can co-create the way forward together.
