Show Up And Put In The Reps

Show Up And Put In The Reps - barbell

You can read all the books ever written, listen to all the podcasts ever recorded, and watch all the videos ever produced on strength training, but that won’t make you stronger.

Sure, your studies and spectating can help accelerate your journey to get stronger and give you valuable insights to improve your technique and approach to training, but they won’t make you stronger.

You get stronger by doing, by strength training. You get stronger by consistently showing up in the gym and lifting weights with progressive overload.

By consistently putting in the reps and gradually increasing the load, what was hard at the beginning soon becomes easier. You make progress and get stronger.

Strength develops when you steadily and intentionally grind and implement supportive habits and systems like proper programming, nutrition, sleep, and recovery.

While there are no hacks to consistently showing up and lifting, you can expedite your progress with the help of a knowledgeable trainer or coach.

The same is true if you’re looking to develop in almost any discipline: innovation, leadership, creativity, communication, sales, etc.

If you want to progress towards mastery in a discipline, then do the required work: continually show up and consistently put in the reps. If you want to progress faster, invest in a competent coach.
