Overcoming Change Allergies

Overcoming Change Allergies

People aren’t allergic to change.

People are allergic to change that is imposed on them. People are allergic to change when they don’t have a choice or a voice in the matter. People are allergic to change when they don’t trust that those driving the change have their best interests at heart.

People are excited and even energized by change when they’re enrolled in the transformation, when they’re input is sought out, listened to, and valued as part of the change process, when they trust that the change is happening out of care for them.

While change is often talked about as being hard and scary, change becomes much easier and less scary for people when they’re enrolled in and trust in the process versus when change is imposed on them.

Does your team or organization appear to be in the midst of change allergy season? Might be time to try the hypoallergenic variety of change instead.
