It’s really challenging to get ahead when you’re riding a bicycle into a headwind.
You can’t overpower a headwind. The harder you try and go, the faster you wear yourself out.
Most cyclists will choose to face a hill climb over a headwind. Mountains have summits, and they’re typically known, so it’s easy to calculate the duration of the sufferfest. With headwinds, you never know unless you’ll be making a U-turn.
It’s much easier to get ahead on a bicycle when you have the support of a tailwind blowing you in the same direction you are travelling.
The same is true when it comes to innovation and creating the conditions for change to happen.
You can wear yourself out fast if you’re moving against a headwind.
Instead, if you want to facilitate innovation and change-making, look for the tailwinds: the conditions that will help push you along in the direction you want to go and effortlessly cruise at a higher speed than usual.
Tailwinds are a blessing. Watch out for them and use them to your advantage.
