“We tried that before and it didn’t work.”
I’ve seen a lot of leaders and teams give up at this point.
The change they tried to implement didn’t work, so they settle back into whatever wasn’t working great in the first place. It can feel like a one-two punch.
The reality is that trying something and discovering it doesn’t work isn’t failure: it’s progress!
In giving something a try you’ve:
- Acknowledged you had a problem in the first place
- Had the courage experiment with change and try on a potential solution
- Gathered new insights to better understand the problem and inform your next experiment
If you try something and it doesn’t work, iterate and try, try again.
