Making Assumptions

Making Assumptions

You know what they say about making assumptions:

Assumptions are integral to innovation.

Innovation involves imagining what does not yet exist so we can create new or better ways of doing valued things.

Sticking to the known will only get you so far when your goal is to imagine what does not yet exist. Fear of making assumptions stifles creativity and innovation.

If you want to innovate the future, be daring and make assumptions.

Just do so in a way where you don’t make an ass out of anyone.

When you make assumptions, you might be wrong and that’s okay as long as you’re humble and the first to recognize and admit when you’ve made faulty ones.

From there, you can revisit your assumptions and your rationale in making them, reimagine, and adjust your assumptions accordingly.
