We’re not here to serve systems.
Systems are here to serve us while providing equal opportunity for thriving.
Unfortunately, many of our systems are examples of where we’ve gotten this backwards, such as healthcare, education, social media, online advertising, politics, white supremacy, and capitalism, just to name a few.
When we’re designing systems or enacting systemic change, it’s crucial to remind ourselves what and who systems are for.
It’s also key to remember that unless a system is compatible with human nature, people ignore, misuse, and/or mistrust and distrust it.
P.S. Earlier this week over at Spotlight Trust, we were humbled to the first of a two-part conversation on Understanding and Addressing Medical Mistrust. Conversation 1: Medical Mistrust from Past to Present was thought-provoking and powerful! Here’s a short clip from the conversation.
