Just because everyone else does something and just because your team or organization has always done something, doesn’t mean doing that something creates value.
Over time of doing that something it can be easy for the initial intention behind it to turn into mindless procedures and organizational debt. The why behind doing the something gets lost so as times change we don’t even realize when continuing to do the something becomes irrelevant or even an obstacle to achieving our bigger goals.
Just because doing something is popular or the status quo, don’t assume doing that something creates value.
Get curious before jumping on the bandwagon and if you’re already on the bandwagon, get curious to see if it makes sense to jump off of it.
Take a moment to question why you’re doing the something and what that something is really for.
