Starting something new can be intimidating.
- Where do you begin?
- How do you begin?
- What skills and technique are required?
- Which method should you follow?
- What tools should you use?
- What systems should you implement?
Many of us start by seeking answers, whether an internet search, reading recommended books, enrolling in a course, talking to friends, listening to podcasts, etc. And many of us quickly find ourselves sucked down the rabbit hole of research and not advancing on the path of getting started with something new.
Research is great, but starting requires taking action.
The work of doing something new is doing the new thing, not merely researching the new thing.
Researching is super helpful, but it will not surpass the benefit of actually starting the new thing and giving yourself the opportunity to learn from experience.
Don’t forget the most important step of starting: you’ve got to get going!
When you’re starting something new, pick a path, get going, and course correct along the way.
