Have you ever told yourself any of these stories:
“This won’t work for me because…”
“I will never get there because…”
“I’m afraid what others might think.”
“I’m afraid of screwing up.”
“I’m not confident enough to give that a go.”
“I don’t have that kind of luck.”
“I don’t know where to start.”
“I don’t have that kind of experience.”
“It just isn’t the right time.”
“I just don’t know the right people.”
“I’m just not ready yet.”
“I’m just not good enough.”
Many times when we fall short of reaching our goals, it’s not that we’re not capable. It’s that the stories we tell ourselves keep us stuck.
As the authors of our own stories, we can choose to pen narratives that limit us or narratives that propel us. Whichever types of narratives we choose, they tend to become self-fulfilling prophecies.
So which type of narrative is more likely to help you reach your goals?
