“We don’t know who discovered water, but it wasn’t a fish.”
(Not entirely sure the attribution of this quote, but it wasn’t me.)
Our experience and expertise can propel understanding, problem-solving, and innovation, and they can also sometimes be obstacles.
We often don’t notice that in which we’re immersed because, based on our perspective, we think that’s just the way the world works.
It can take the help of someone else who isn’t immersed in the water to notice it and realize that it’s quite curious. It’s their outside perspective that helps us overcome the obstacles of our own experience and expertise to better see and understand the true nature of reality and the opportunities to transform it.
